Review: Saperavi 2022 from Bolhrad
A deep, spicy red from the Bolhrad micro-region. Is the bottle worth its price?
First impression
A dark ruby pour, almost ink-like in the glass. The nose offers blackberry, prune, a touch of pepper, and a hint of Ukrainian steppe herbs.
Palate
Full body, firm tannins, a long finish.
Pairings
Duck magret, grilled meats, aged hard cheeses.
Verdict
A serious red for a moderate price.
